Environment:
Target wants to be “green” and that’s a good goal. But if you have a massive distribution
complex thats ready to be operational, isn’t it a terrible waste
of energy and natural resources to tear down a perfectly good building? What
about tearing up all that asphalt, what about all the mercury in the florescant
light fixtures, what about the mechanical systems, the cement and all the wasted material that goes to the landfill in trucks along our busy streets?
Looks of the property:
Target says they are community sensitive. If that’s the case I’m sure they will
do a nice face lift and landscaping of the existing facility to put it in
harmony with our neighborhood. Lighting for the warehouse can still be updated to
minimize lights and landscaping can be amazingly effective in cutting down
noise. Won’t Target be a good neighbor to us if they have to settle for the
distribution center?
