STOP
Bloomington Super Target!!
Why stop Target Corporation?
I can only speak for myself and my family. We use to live in nearby neighborhood by Valley West for 10 years but when redevelopment of Valley West was revealed, families fled our street like the plague. We were one of the last to leave. Like the others before us we sold our property to investors who now rent out the property. It’s very sad to see that neighborhood street destroyed so quickly yet so thoroughly. Now, here we are about one mile away and seven years later and it’s happening to us again. People say redevelopment will increase property values? It didn’t work that way for us by Valley West. We did buy this house at 5248 Heritage Hills Drive almost four years ago with the full understanding there was a distribution center nearby. We did not buy into a neighbor hood about to be overrun with Target Superstore development.
Heritage Hills Drive is near ground zero. My driveway to Proposed Target is a little more than 1/3 mile from my drive way to theirs as the crow flies. That’s just a little more than a lap around a football field. We are about 4 houses east of Normandale Blvd. Pulling out to Normandale can be dangerous and the same can be said about using Rich Road to Old Shakopee. I’ve seen some near fatal accidents as most of us that live in this neighborhood. We also experience heavy cut through traffic when either Normandale or Old Shakopee back up. The busier the intersection gets the more people take our street as a shortcut. I’ve seen people blow by school buses unloading our kids, and it will only get worse.
We have a 7 year old Autistic child and there is no doubt that the additional 12,000 cars a day traffic load from the proposed Target will cause more and more dangerous cut through traffic into out neighbor hood.
School Safety: There are at least six schools that will see increased traffic near or in front of their schools Jefferson, Olson Elementary, Olsen Middle, Westwood and Southwood Elementary. The scariest traffic isn’t from France or even 102ed, but the traffic that will start using Heritage Hills as a short cut from France to Normandale. And lets not forget the massive increase in traffic on Rich Road and Rich Park just NE of the proposed Super Target and 110th becoming a four lane speedway. I cringe seeing the kids getting off the busses in the afternoon as the Target Corporation traffic ramps up and dices through our streets. I can even picture parents picking up the kids at schools that taking the shortcut through our neighborhood on their way to Target to pick up school supplies and food for supper.

New lawn signs are available. If you want to help distribute, let me know. Cost is $10, contributions are appreciated but not necessary. Be aware of the guy in a older off white or greyish Volvo 4 dr in his 50s with grey hair. He likes to knock signs over and steal them.
Thanks for everyones help.
